Cosmetic Dental Bonding Procedures
Dental bonding is a versatile treatment that can help repair damaged teeth, close gaps, and repair discolored teeth. This process involves the application of a composite resin matched to the color of your teeth.
Barry E. Bubar D.D.S. – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry believes that while quality care is imperative, that is only part of the work that goes into creating an exceptional patient experience. In our experience, we’ve found that a little empathy and compassion go a long way. We’ve also found that a lot of empathy and compassion are what set us apart from other dental practices around our community. It has been and continues to be very rewarding to be able to have the unique privilege of providing a soothing yet effective dental experience.
First, during your consultation, Dr. Bubar will discuss your treatment goals and the ways we can help you reach this result. We’ll incorporate a shade guide and in most cases, we’ll match the composite resin to your own tooth color. We can also add whiter shades to neutralize discolored teeth. Once we’ve chosen the color, we will etch the edge of the tooth, to roughen it, helping the bonding material adhere.
The tooth is prepared with the putty-like resin matched to the color of your teeth. The resin is pliable and can be molded and smoothed into a proper shape, and, finally, hardened with an intense blue curing light. After this composite material hardens, Dr. Bubar can further trim, shape, and polish the material until it cannot be discerned from natural tooth structures. In most cases, the procedure can be done within an hour or a bit longer if more teeth are to be bonded or it is part of a more complex cosmetic procedure maybe including porcelain veneers.
